About The Game

Lost, alone and separated from family, a stray cat must untangle an ancient mystery to escape a long-forgotten city. Stray is a third-person cat adventure game set amidst the detailed, neon-lit alleys of a decaying cybercity and the murky environments of its seedy underbelly. Roam surroundings high and low, defend against unforeseen threats and solve the mysteries of this unwelcoming place inhabited by curious droids and dangerous creatures. See the world through the eyes of a cat and interact with the environment in playful ways. Be stealthy, nimble, silly, and sometimes as annoying as possible with the strange inhabitants of this mysterious world. Along the way, the cat befriends a small flying drone, known only as B-12. With the help of this newfound companion, the duo must find a way out. Stray is developed by BlueTwelve Studio, a small team from the south of France mostly made up of cats and a handful of humans.

How to Download & Install Stray

  2. Wait 5 seconds and click on the blue ‘download now’ button. Now let the download begin and wait for it to finish.
  3. Once Stray is done downloading, right click the .zip file and click on “Extract to Stray”
  4. Double click inside the Stray folder and run the exe application.
  5. Have fun and play! Make sure to run the game as administrator and if you get any missing dll errors, look for a Redist or _CommonRedist folder and install all the programs in the folder.

If you get any missing dll errors, make sure to look for a _Redist or _CommonRedist folder and install directx, vcredist and all other programs in that folder. You need these programs for the game to run. Look for a ‘HOW TO RUN GAME!!.txt’ file for more help. Also, be sure to right click the exe and always select “Run as administrator” if you’re having problems saving the game. - If you have both dedicated and integrated GPUs, try switching to dedicated GPU since the game isn’t switching to the dedicated GPU
- Run the game as administrator
This game need to run with DX 12, you can check DirectX version by press windows and type dxdiag.
For windows 7/8 you need to download dxvk (search on google):
Extract all files from x64, copy to Win64 folder of the game. Warning it will replace dll files from game folder, if you're not sure make sure to backup the files

Make a shortcut of the game, right click on the shortcut then select properties and find the line that says target. Put -dx12 behind stray.exe with space (stray.exe -dx12), then run the shortcut (don't forget to setting run as admin)

If you are having a black screen issue
- update your GPU drivers to the latest version, especially for old graphic cards
- Run in compatibility mode for windows 7
- try to force change resolution or force fullscreen :
go to appdata\local\Hk_project\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor\GameUserSettings.ini
find the lines

Other tips is
- Don't run the "Stray.exe", try to run/make a shortcut the "Stray-Win64-Shipping.exe" in Hk_project\Binaries\Win64
- Different launch options. Some folk with the same error can play with using the -dx12 option of all things. The other are -dx11 and or -d3d11 for windows 7/8
